Kime Unwrapped: The Making of a Carpet
Traditional Weaving at Robert Kime
Reintroducing five unique designs — Venice, Stars & Stripes, Floors, Tibetan Check and Tigris Green — the colourful reproduction patterns available as Robert Kime Carpets.
Our carpets are handwoven from pure British wool on traditional narrow looms in the north of England. The carpet designs can be used as runners or sewn together as fitted, wall-to-wall or finished ground carpets at any size, incorporating overall patterns and borders to create the finished design.
Orlando Atty explains “We believe the craft and sensibilities of these carpets will have a broad appeal today, adding colour and texture to a space. I am thrilled to be bringing back a product that Robert designed for specific decorating projects”
Our Designs
TIGRIS GREEN
An adaptation of a Kashan rug with an Abrash background that uses colour variations to achieve a distinctive design of intricate details that are embedded in an overall large scale pattern. The body design, with border, creates a very unique statement.
STARS & STRIPES
A unique design of alternating colour and pattern was designed by Robert and inspired by the border of a Turkish rug from his vast collection. With a contemporary feel, Stars & Stripes is a design that lends itself to many settings, suitable for ground, stairs and runners.TIBETAN CHECK
A timeless, small scale chequerboard design suitable for ground, runner and stairs. Reminiscent of the chequered ‘Tulu’ rugs, often collected by Robert.
FLOORS
A faithful interpretation of the original stair carpet at Floors Castle, reproduced and imagined by Robert. This carpet makes use of varied medallions with diagonal support lines to create a striking design. The companion border adds interest, with a runner also available.
